Depth and fascination for the ear and mind
Heart & Soul offers views into cultures and lives one cannot find anywhere else today. It combines the skill of excellent, perceptive news reporters with equally excellent planning, ambient sound capture and reproduction, and - clearly - a lot of diligent advance work by many sensitive and intelligent researchers. Memorable past programs include the incredible story of pianist Alice Herz Sommers, an analysis of the Hebrew prayer for the dead, the Kaddish, and more. I am on my way to Istanbul this week, and was thrilled to hear live this morning the third part of the series, "The Bosphorus" - and am downloading the series to my iPad so my partner and I can listen to it on the flight over. This, and "Witness," are two of my very favorite podcasts - download them, and they will be yours, too.
