    Creative, Adventurous, and sometimes Erotic
Totally creative and adventurous, and occasionally erotic, these stories are a complete world I find addictive. Great job Emerian Rich!

    A train wreck!
FormerAM on 8/28/09 summed up my feelings on this fairly well. Just passed the half way mark and the story is so bad that I can't turn away. Observations for the author: Voice acting - not required but, if you do it, own it. - option 1: if you are going to read your own work and can't do accents then just do a straight read. - option 2: if you have to have accents, go find people who can do them. Story: so far there isn't one. An "almost interesting collection of vignettes" is the best that I can do. There is almost a short story but without flow or continuity. Music: 1/5 (or more) of the episode should not be comprised of music, especially not the same ENTIRE piece more than once. Give to us, your listeners, something broader. Don't pad your episode! History: when writing a historically based novel, do some research. If you aren't willing to research, write what you know. Some of the threads had holes big enough to throw a cat through. General word choice: Drop the hyperbole and walk away! Florid has it's place and - until you are writing for a second rate romance novel machine - please step away from that third rail. More thoughts and edits to first thoughts later as I continue to watch the crash and burn. Hopefully I'll be eating my words...!

An Honest Review From An Honest Listener.
I'll be honest, I found this story to be off to a slow start and a bit cheesy at first. However, the further in I got the more enthralled I became; and soon this was all I would listen to until I was done with Part 1. By the time I was half way through I was hooked, and the unexpected ending was enough to make me a little misty eyed as it lifted my spirits to incredible heights. I strongly recommend this podbook to anyone who is a vampire or dark fantasy addict like myself. Keep up the awesome work Em, I anxiously await the next installment.

    Good but needs work
I made it about half way through but sadly I couldn't finish it. The story jumps around way too much and rambles. A little more thought and consolitation of the story would make for a better listening experience and the accents were interesting but a bit over done. I think it was a good first attempt and with a little more practice could make for a great read. Good luck in the future!

    Unbearable Narration
Wow! The girl narrating this story sounds like she reads at a 2nd grade level. The other "narrator" also sound like reading is a newly acquired skill that he isn't quite yet fully comfortable with. I could not get through the first 3 chapters as a result of the terrible writing and even worse narration. If I had to guess, I'd say the author has a lot of friends that flooded the reviews with 5 stars (and some even went so far as to "praise" the narration) but I imagine after listening to less than the 1 chapter - you will also move on to other audio options...

    So far so good...
I'm about halfway through this podnovel and I'm loving it so far. It's gotten to a point where I'm getting nothing done at work because I can't wait to hear the next chapter. Now my two-hour bus ride doesn't seem long enough!!! Thanks Emerian!

    I really tried
I forced myself to listen to the 1st 9 chapters, hoping the story would go somewhere. Not worth the effort!

    Age appropriate sounding reader needed
This may have been a good story, but I couldn't get past what sounded like a 12-year old narrating explicit scenes.

    Night
I am into chapter 19 in this podcast series. I absolutely love this series! It's very hard to turn off the nano after a chapter is finished. Good job!

    Very Entertaining
Nothing beats a great story but sometimes the reader gets in the way. This is not the case with Emerian Rich. A good story, a committed reader/author, and free to boot! Kudos!

    Hooked
At first this podcast was hard to get into. If you have the same problem just hang in there, it gets better and will hook you in like it did me. Enjoyed all the character's and the story. A fun listen.

    Great job.
I just finished the novel, and I must say, I enjoyed it very much! I think the characters are very diverse, great backstories of them, and great handling of flashbacks. Don't take too seriously the negative comments. Everyone does have an opinion, theirs are negative, and mine happens to be positive. Thanks for a great listen!

One star for trying at least
Poorly written and compounded by extremely amateurish narration. The attempt to change to deeper voices for mail characters was very distracting. The story was difficult to follow after the first installment, and I gave up by the fourth. I hope she continues to learn and try until she hones her craft. I had to give her points for effort.

    Inconsistent, incohesive & confusing
I tried to like this story. I truly did but couldn't, it flat out sucked.

    run now!
this was the worst, no story worth mentioning, terrible voices as well
  • Horrible Voices!
    Horrible Voices!
The voice is so excessively bad that I could not get past the first few episodes. The story seems to have promise, but I can't, can't, can't listen to that voice. If the story were recorded with a different one I would try again.

An interesting slant on an old story
You won't find any revolutionary departures from the vampire genre here. You will find excellent editing and a little more production that is found in your typical podiobook. Rich creates a wonderfully detailed backstory for all the main characters. The story drags on a little past it's welcome and the hero suffers from 'superman syndrome' but the work put into the backstories alone makes this worth a listen.

    Not worth the download
This story comes across as something written by a sophomore in high school with an imagination. So poorly written, I couldn't make it past the first 3 or 4 episodes. Also the same music played at the end of each episode, is extremely annoying. The author seems joined at the hip with the music-b-o-r-i-n-g!

    awsome
if you dont like this story, you are insane. That is the simple truth in the matter. I love how she puts in the point of view of almost everybody involved, it gives you a better grasp at whats going on.

    Good Book!
This was a very good book. Took a bit to get used to the different voices. All in all a good "listen." Will keep an eye out for more books by this author.

    I couldn't handle it...
I tried several times to listen to this book, but I couldn't get past the first chapter. The reader's voice just turned me off from the story. I'd love to give it another go with a different reader.......

    UGH!
It's not just the california accent of the reader, it's the whole premise. So incredibly hack it's a waste of 1's and 0's.

The beginning of the story is better than the middle
I was very interested interested in this story at the beginning. At some point, though, it seemed to take a huge detour, as if it were two stories stuck together. After I noticed this, the author admitted in one of her notes that Night's Knights had orginally started as more than one story that she ended up needing to combine for artistic reasons. Each story would be interesting on it own, but it has become confusing and a little flat for me. I have two complaints about the way Night's Knights was recorded: Emrian Rich's male voices are horrid, and the first several episodes have more music than story in them. With all of that said, I'm still listening to the story because I want to know what happens.

    my ears are bleeding
Dear God, this woman's voice is like sandpaper on my ears. I think the story would be okay, but I just can't get past her voice. If this was re-read by a decent male voice, or a more melodious female voice, I think it would be pretty enjoyable. I don't think I could take the narrator's voice for more than two minutes without becoming homicidal.

    Vampires Rock!!!!
I never liked those stories where they take the point of view of a vampire hunter. I always enjoyed the point of view of the vampire more. Emerian tells the story through the perspective the vampires and undead life isn't all blood and roses. I thought the narration was fantastic, the story superb and the sound effects really brought the podcast to life. Each episode is getting better and better.

I can't get past the voice
Alright i listened to the first chapter. The story might be decent, but the author/narrator's voice is SOO GRATINGLY little girl nasily, it's just so whiny I can't get past it. Also what's with the little bits of music and the run run run with the music. Anyhow, change the narrator and get rid of the music and I might try listening to it again, the story seemed moderately interesting.
