Early Work with Rhys James

24

For many performers, their biggest fears is that people will find the creative writing they produced when they were younger. Early poetry, short stories, song lyrics, scripts and more shouldn't stay hidden in shoe boxes in our parents' house or in password protected folders on our laptops. It’s time we monetised that shame and gave those pieces the public outing our 15 year old selves would’ve wanted. Each week a guest brings something they wrote in their adolescence to be discussed and co-analysed with Rhys - who will be bringing something embarrassing of his own to level the playing field.

    👌🏼
There are no words to describe the awesomeness of this podcast, except these: “F¥€k... me...”

    A Humanizing and Hilarious Podcast
An excellent podcast, especially for creatives who need reassuring that “no, it wasn’t just you who thought you wrote the next Romeo and Juliet as a child, but going back and reading it, it is far closer to The Room.” Pleasant, but not saccharine. Like a tart fruit pie. Rhys is a bit of a hard judge when it comes to scoring the guests, but it is his podcast and he is expertly self-effacing, so it balances out in the end. Also, this podcast a cool way to learn a little bit more about beloved comics and meet some new ones. 10/10, highly recommend.

    Losers Unite
I love this podcast. Speaking as a nerdy loser from school, it is great to hear that others did some embarrassing things too.

    Everyone’s a Loser!
Each episode is so unique to the guest and somehow, Rhys perfectly interviews, commentates, and encourages each of them with ease then hilariously responds with a classically embarrassing early work of his own. And at the end, everyone is always loser which is a great message to remember xx Definitely recommend, whether you’re in quarantine or not.
