WarioArgentoHow DO you know what to keep or what to throw?Carrie J is, arguably, the greatest and most fearless podcaster of all time. Tim B is her cunning and well-matched nemesis. Rob J is the ringmaster keeping this machine from flying off the rails. Featuring some fun guests and an alarmingly catchy theme song.

Dom_of_the_deadGreat podcastI’m not a huge movie buff, but this podcast provides some great reviews; particularly when I’m debating whether or not to watch a movie. Two huge thumbs up, and two big toes!
-
TommyInwoodLove their style!I love their reviews because they’re authentic but fun. They are honest yet if you know them you know the fun they are having.
-
TbigbootyLove this pod! These guys are great and I love the content. I especially like when they go off movie topic. Special shout-out to Carrie to whom I spent all of my formative years being locker neighbors in school! Keep up the great work guys!

AniaMZXCGreat podcast!!!This is awesome.

bziegler99Is Rob a super dad trapped inside a film critics body?Love the perspectives these three bring to the table. Great listen!

embala_mlaOne of the best shows in my feedA podcast that has brought me so much unfettered joy. There is not a single episode of ALTERNATE ENDING that hasn’t given me at least one genuine belly laugh. You can tell that this is a true labor of love for Rob, Carrie, and Tim. Come for the thoughtful commentary on the art of film and the feeling it gives us, stay for Carrie explaining to Tim what she means by “Rob’s ball towel.”

Ando70Love the various perspectivesI started listening to this podcast a few years back when I was looking for something new to listen to while I worked. I’ve listened to every episode since. I love getting movie recommendations from three very different perspectives. The dynamic between the three hosts just works very well. Sometimes you feel like you’re just listening in to a conversation they’re having after just watching a new movie. Movie wise, I am mostly in step with Rob’s, the film school dropout, tastes in movies. So early on I always looked forward to see his thoughts on newer movies or the classics that were recommended to him. Those classic recommendations generally come from Tim, the critic in residence. Tim’s tastes in movies generally doesn’t line up with my own, but his passion is evident when he describes what makes something great. It only makes you want to see it for yourself if you haven’t already. Or if you have already seen it, then to see it again through new eyes. Finally, there is Carrie, the casual movie fan. The banter between her and Tim generally steals the show. Sometimes her answers to questions are so out there that make me wonder if she’s really that way when the mics aren’t on…I suppose only people who’ve known her for a long time know for sure. Either way, she’s a great foil to Tim, while Rob just tries to hold everything together P.S. As I write this review, I am staring at a movie poster of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade hanging above my desk. I love Indiana Jones…he’s a hero.

Har Rai KhalsaBest in the BusinessOutstanding reviews that are unique and enjoyable. This team brings personality to everything they do. Enjoy their reviews again and again!

DanieRube023Love!Love this podcast! Movie reviews have never been done better - I love the topics of discussion, the varied titles, and LOVE that the podcast doesn’t exclusively review new movies. I think everyone can agree, podcast world (or maybe the world in general) needs more Carries in it!
-
A Kansas GirlGreat reviews with a sense of humor!I love listening to these three talk! No only are they funny, but also give great reviews! I definitely give them a thumbs up!!

C.KeelFirst time listener……and I can’t wait to binge listen to the rest of the episodes!

natcap83Great Trio!Excellent reviews and always entertaining!
-
GercTrayIf you like movies, this one is for you. This is not your average movie critic podcast — it’s BETTER! I love the topics that veer off-course, the laughter, and the conversational style of the program. I am not the type to see the latest movies in theaters (not since having kids but hope to get back to it someday) and enjoy the blend of new movies and those from years/generations past. This trio also touches all genres of film, which I find refreshing and enjoyable.

Kmccurta.5+ starsI love this dynamic trio! I don’t really even watch a lot of movies, but these 3 make it entertaining, funny, and keep me up to date on all the latest cinema.

Titi AprilAppreciate Film DifferentlyHave you been thinking about what podcast you want to line up for your listening pleasure? I’ve got one for you! Alternate Ending is one of my favs!! For those that have subscribed and rated already, do it and thank me later!! If you haven’t yet, CHECK IT OUT! Carrie (my casual movie goer spirit animal), Rob (the film school dropout I’ll never be) and Tim (the “I don’t always agree with what he says, but i respect his opinion” super smart film professor and reviewer) make me laugh, cry and frankly, connect with film in a whole new way. Highly recommend!

mudiogenesWho titles reviews?!The first podcast I ever listened to, and the only one I still listen to religiously.
-
ThixthThenthCriticism still livesTim Brayton is one of the few working critics who hasn’t been destroyed by the Great Smoothening of culture.
-
dans321Great blend of voicesTim, Rob, and Carrie bring a wide variety of voices and perspectives on movies. Tim brings some serious film history bona fides, but the tone is very comedic. Great cast chemistry, always a fun listen (especially the top 5 episodes), the ad intermissions run long so I usually skip over them
-
yeshelloiuseyikyakmy favorite film podcasta slice of joy :) the AE podcast is conversational, funny, and welcoming, with a refreshing spread of opinions in its three hosts. i’ve read critic-in-residence tim brayton’s movie reviews for 15 years or so, and the podcast is a perfect counterpoint to his criticism, adding humor, social context, and feelings of community. :)

CalebOfTheHampshireCalebsFunnest Film ‘Cast AroundThis show is an absolute delight. I’ve been following Tim’s writing for, holy cow, like fifteen years now? And I’ve been listening to Alternate Ending since he made the jump. I had my doubts at first because I am a change-resistant curmudgeon, but the transition has only been for the better. Carrie, Rob, and Tim make such a wonderful team. They each bring a totally different perspective to every film they discuss, and it’s a *blast* to hear them banter every week. Carrie is an incredible sport, always full of enthusiasm and good humor — not to mention injecting a healthy dose of chaos into the proceedings. Her love of movies is infectious even when our tastes vary wildly. Rob is the consummate straight man of the mix, the ever-patient foil to both Carrie and Tim’s constant antics. He’s not afraid to leap into the chaos himself, but he’s always there to pull them back out, keeping the show rolling and prompting his co-hosts with insightful questions. Tim is, of course, Tim, and he’s no less than a national treasure for it. He’s been writing some of the most thoughtful, incisive, eviscerating, and straight-up *engaging* film reviews on the web for many years now. I shouldn’t have been surprised at all he would be such a witty and ear-catching podcaster too. He’ll refuse to hear it, but Tim’s the closest thing most of us have had to an Ebert since Ebert. And seeing as I was only a high schooler when I started reading Antagony, I’d be hard-pressed to think of any reviewer who’s had a bigger impact on me. Check out Alternate Ending and get to know these three. They’ll rarely fail to brighten your day whenever an episode shows up in your feed.

BrianFowlerMovies and hilarityI've been a long time reader of Tim Brayton's reviews, and followed him to Alternate Ending. And he's great on it. But the surprise was Rob and Carrie. Carrie bring pleasant anarchy and it's always funny, and Rob keeps everything moving and on track, and often deftly plays straight man to both his cohorts (I meant co-hosts but I like the autocorrect)
-
RowkatGood content. Needs sound editingI wanted to give it five stars, but it’s a massive misohphonia trigger. As soon as they started introducing a third person they must have changed mics or something because there was so much lip smacking, gulping and wet mouth noises I had to stop listening.
-
ObiRobKenobi“A Feel Good Podcast for the Ages”This could be a podcast about the History and Culture of Beans on the Iberian Peninsula and I’d still listen every week! The true draw of this podcast is the incredible chemistry of its three hosts! The dynamic naturally created by their differing personalities and tastes is truly captivating.
-
gobears1983Funny and insightfulThis podcast is lots of fun, and makes me want to see more movies than just those currently in theaters. I also really enjoy how much Tim Brayton swears, in a way where you can tell he just can’t help himself.
-
You're sharpGreat entertainmentI absolutely love listening to these three. They have such great chemistry! Their discussions have helped me to build a super watch list, and I laugh during every episode. Love you guys!
-
Dsgal 21Funny and factual!I actually smile when I listen to this podcasts. I love movies but haven’t had a ton of time for them lately and this podcast has helped to fall back in love with them and make time for them in my life again. I love the back story they give to the movies they discuss. The dynamic between the three hosts is wildly entertaining. Carrie is by far my favorite, she clearly has the brains and humor of the bunch. Rob and Tim are great too!
-
writebeccaA movie podcast for every listenerI’m a movie-goer, but definitely not a movie critic or even much of a movie buff. My reviews of movies are limited to “I liked it,” “it made me cry,” or “I didn’t get it.” But Alternate Ending is still one of my favorite podcasts: the chemistry among these three hosts is so fun. It’s hilarious, it appeals to every kind of movie watcher, and it introduces me to movies I never would have seen otherwise. Give it a listen!

RawleyEFunny, Informative, Clever, AddictiveCannot say enough good things about this podcast! Carrie, Rob, and Tim all have excellent chemistry and comfortable fun banter with each other - they are wonderful to listen to and hang out with. On top of their awesome rapport, they each have very different movie tastes and criteria, so you really get a full spectrum of movies that they discuss and recommend. Tim, as a film critic, adds a lot of historical context and interesting trivia about films, and often has more obscure (but excellent) films that he talks about. He's hilarious and extremely intelligent. I was happily introduced to this podcast as a longtime fan of Tim's previous website, Antagony and Ecstasy. Carrie is absolutely adorable and charming - and as a casual movie-goer she offers a perspective I actually don't think is well-represented on a lot of podcasts and film websites, which tend to cater more towards film buffs. I love her honesty and unabashed sincerity about her movie choices and tastes, which more often than not don't align with Tim's or Rob's. She's simply a delightful human being and a joy to listen to. Rob, as the movie hobbyist, has tastes leaning more towards mainstream (not meant in a derogatory way by any means), but he also has a lot of surprising recommendations and tons of movie knowledge. Just like Carrie and Tim, Rob has an awesome sense of humor and his perspective and opinions are really great to listen to. As for content, they mainly do "Top Fives" (with really fun - and culturally relevant - categories) and spoiler-heavy episodes for recent popular releases. They also encourage lots of participation from social media and give out prizes. Each episode is clever, hilarious, and filled to the brim with great recommendations and movie discussions. I cannot recommend this podcast (or their website!!) highly enough, and I think anyone who likes films - whether it be a passing interest or full-blown obsession - would fall in love with this podcast and the hosts.
-
ConnieWodzGreat movie review podcastI consider myself more than a casual movie goer but by no means an expert and I love the well rounded reviews from the entire cast. I find that at least one of the three someone will share my opinion of a flick. The group keeps it fun and fresh with different themes each week and it’s fun as they get their fans involved through their website and Facebook page.
-
EnidJColeslawGreat for all kinds of movie fans!I love the conversational style of the hosts and the varying styles of viewer they target -- experts, hobbyists, and casual watchers will all find something to love! They are always hilarious and are always motivating me to see yet more movies.
-
Robert_DCA new favorite podcastA funny, casual and informative conversation about films. The hosts have a great rapport. I've enjoyed Tim's movie reviews since discovering his blog and recently gave the podcast a listen. It's great hearing Carrie, Rob and Tim talk over the merits (or lack thereof) of films.
-
keiracatladyMy new addictionA friend of mine got me started on Alternate Ending and now I'm hooked. Keep up the good work guys!

cinemomtoastcrunchMust listen every weekMy favorite podcast!!!! Always leaves me laughing and with movie recommendations I would have otherwise missed!

Dr. Apostrophe XDelightfully informative and fascinatingly entertainingAs a longtime reader of co-host Tim Brayton's film reviews for many years now I was very excited when he joined the hosts of the Alternate Ending podcast as they share their perspectives on a wide range of films and film genres each week. What I didn't expect was for the show to be as funny and engaging as it is. Each of the hosts brings their own unique perspective and sense of humor to the podcast which, along with the sense of camaraderie which has been evidently developed over many years of friendship, keeps the discussion lively and engaging. As a way of discovering new films to enjoy as well as hearing fresh takes on old favorites, this podcast can't be beat. Invite the hosts of Alternate Ending into your iDevice for an hour each week and see if you don't discover some new favorite films of your own as you laugh your way through each episode.
-
Brennan KleinA must-listen every week!I love Altwrnate Ending so much I have built it into my weekly routine. I've been a fan of Tim for years, and it's always a gift to hear his smooth voice and strong opinions. Plus, Rob and Carrie have a chemistry that beats most two-hander podcast setups. Carrie is comedy gold with her anarchistic approach to list-making and their dynamic is electric.
-
Shutterbug momFabulous movie discussion podcastI truly look forward to this podcast every week! It feels like sitting around with some buddies and chatting about movies (only one of your buddies is getting a PhD in film and possibly has a little more to bring to the table than most might...) Fun (unforced, not inane) banter, insightful discussions, and it has brought me to some movies I would never have seen otherwise. The only negative I can say is that I've embarrassed myself on several occasions by literally laughing out loud or trying to suppress a goofy smile when listening at the gym. Highly recommended--you won't regret subscribing!
-
MrMcBAMGreat, natural conversationThis podcast does well with the dynamic they have going: a film school dropout who isn't a full on casual goer but also not holding a critical mindset; the film school dropout's wife, who makes her casual viewing blatant to the listener; the critic who can put the two in their place, so to speak, without ever seeing condescending. They all gel into a very worthwhile listening. Their back-and-forth doesn't seem forced like most podcasts, but natural and easy going. Most importantly, you get the feeling that the married couple actually *feels* like they're married, which adds to the enjoyment a great deal. #TeamRob

Riffie17So entertaining!Perfect podcast to get you through your long commute. Rob and Carrie make you feel like your in the room chatting it up about new releases and movies from yesteryear. Keep it up guys!

LinzersMKEWorth SubscribingI love this podcast. Good for everyone from casual movie-goers to full-fledged enthusiasts. It is a great balance of humor and movie content. Carrie and Rob do a good job of letting me know what movies are must sees and what I skip. Definitely worth subscribing.

JoyV111Movies & MerrimentI look forward to each and every edition of Alternate Ending because of the variety and practical movie suggestions left by the podcasters. I find a great balance between Team Carrie & Team Rob recommendations, and I enjoy the debate between this witty husband and wife team. I recommend this podcast for anyone who enjoys movies!
-
Adam and JuniorFun for all agesOne of my favorite podcasts. Rob and Carrie have a chemistry and rapport that keep me laughing in public as I listen. Plus you learn something about movies and how to define categories, or at least how to argue about them.
-
VelophilerWonderfully Entertaining!A great podcast that will leave you informed and entertained. No film snobbery here, but plenty of banter between Rob and Carrie as they make their cases for their preference in movies. Leaves me smiling after each episode, and looking forward to the next release.
-
LiefandemiFrom film buffs to sporadic movie-goersThis podcast offers great fodder for anyone who is looking for some ideas for the next film to see (or avoid). Rob & Carrie offer their personal, thoughtfully informed analysis that will very quickly generate your "movies to watch" list with more than just he critically acclaimed and box office successes. The podcast also charmingly and often humorously documents stories about their own relationship and their lives that make it all the more enjoyable. This one is worthy of a subscription!
