This is the absolute worst podcasts for homeschool families. Be aware moms!

I listened for a bit but I kept getting confused that they talk about homeschooling but say their kids are in public school? Don’t have a problem with either but I listen for experiences from homeschool moms. The socialization episode talks about how socialization is not an issue and how great it is for kids but then she said her kids are in public school because they felt isolated. Just feels like they’re saying this is great but my kids had to go to school because it was bad for them

So funny I’ve been avoiding replacing my towels from 20 years ago bc the store closed. They are Charisma too, ha I still love them 19 years later but 5 kids later I need more, thanks for the 411

I used to love this podcast. It was my go-to! But now, with the most recent episode, I’m questioning it, especially with all the research on technology and kids’ brains, the effects of “screen-time education” and the moods of children, and the startling effects of too much screen-time and childhood depression.

I’m a new homeschooler, and I’ve been devouring homeschooling podcasts right and left. This one truly shines in so many ways— but I especially love how clear and courageous they are in supporting important causes. It’s so essential that we raise our next generation with a commitment to equality and integrity, and its wonderful to see the homeschooling community come on board. These women show their empathy, dedication, and experience as homeschoolers with every word and each show I’ve listened to, has given me both practical advice and the background behind it, which I very much appreciate. Its lovely to feel less alone! Thank you!

I just absolutely love this podcast! I’ve listened for a couple of years now, they provide real and honest feedback on how they homeschool, and often leave themselves vulnerable, but that’s what makes this podcast great, is that they are real. It’s like having homeschool discussions with your friends! Their social media pages share great resources as well, just have nothing but great things to say about this podcast!!! Also, you’ll never be bored, at all.

Homeschool shouldn’t be about politics. This podcast used to be pretty good before the Covid pandemic hit. Since then these ladies have been politically polarizing and it just has no place in my home school.

Not only is this my favorite homeschool podcast, it’s my FAVORITE PODCAST. I listen to every episode and have recently started working through the backcatalog. I’m a young mom and my kids are still young but I find so much reassurance in Maren and Angela’s stories about homeschooling and raising older kids. They are like the cool older sisters I never had and inspire me to chill out and focus on connecting with my kids instead of forcing them to do workbook after workbook. I also love getting a glimpse into their long and beautiful friendship. It’s a privilege to be a part of. 💜

I always enjoy listening to this podcast. Maren and Angela are funny, and they have a good balance of casual conversation and topical discussion. I also admire them for speaking out on the need for homeschoolers to become more inclusive. There are a lot of homeschool podcasts, but this is one of my favorites!

I am an overdoer and decided due to COVID that homeschool was the right choice for my family. My research stumbled me into this podcast, and it is without a doubt the thing that has set me up to feel the most at ease with this choice. Maren and Angela are like the good wise friends who homeschool that I wish I had in person. They are empowering and real. LOVE this podcast.

I started at the beginning and have been listening non stop the past week. These mamas are real, intentional, and such an awesome resource for getting started (and staying) homeschooling!! And Patreon is a must!! they have printables, guides, and other helpful extras that have been so helpful to me. These women are living out their calling!!

They keep it real, and are so positive. I love listening to this podcast.

This is my first time ever taking the time to write a podcast review—which is to say, this is just such an amazing podcast that I feel compelled to leave a review. This is the best homeschool podcast I have encountered—encouraging, realistic, balanced, relational. I’m so grateful for these voices and their presence in this space.

The pros: good quality sound, smart and kind hosts. They are reassuring and interesting women. But the bad part is that they don’t have a lot of info. It seems that they mainly spend each episode telling you not to do much, to pull back, to follow your kid. All good advice but not much new here each week. At this point only one of them is even homeschooling. I appreciate their attitude, but I think they’ve run out of steam, honestly. You will get reassured if you listen, but you won’t get much practical help, ideas, resources, or honesty about the fact that some moms do need to do more or push their kids a bit.

The most encouraging and uplifting content. Maren and Angela are authentic and keep the journey of homeschooling real, honest, and relatable. Such amazing content!!

I have LOVED listening to this podcast. Angela and Maren keep everything interesting, inclusive, relevant, and SO positive! I am just beginning my homeschool journey and I am so glad I found these two; they make it seem very doable and offer so many resources. The structure is really great as well, with conversations about relevant books, movies, music, useful products as well as deep discussions about homeschooling, parenting and education. I feel fortunate to have these ladies to listen to as part of my evening.

I saw a post on Instagram that lead me to you podcast. I’m glad I did. This has been my podcast for 4 1/2 months. Now I have to wait for each new episodes. They have helped me live as who I am and not worry about it.

This podcast is the best! Real life situations with practical suggestions is priceless. And always so positive and supportive ❤️

I adore the dynamic duo behind this podcast. I appreciate their goal of creating community and letting homeschool parents know that they are doing enough. I always grab a new nugget of info when I listen to a podcast. They are fabulous!

Ok, so I’m partial, Maren is my wife, and really, believe me when I say this -- she’s amazing. So is Angela. They have such good chemistry and each bring SO much so this show. They are two of the most wise, educated, patient people I know. They are also very transparent on this podcast — homeschooling isn’t easy, and I love that they start with “unrefined” b/c many of us need to grow BEYOND the way we experienced education, stop comparing ourselves to that, or to others, or to what we THINK others are doing, and get very real with each other to understand that we can move forward and find a way to foster our children’s love of learning. If you like connecting, if you like being liberated from traditional forms of thinking about homeschooling or learning, if you want to find your way on these topics, this is probably a good listen.

I just found this podcast recently and have already flown through several episodes! These ladies are authentic, sweet, and just all around easy to listen to! Really comforting to another homeschool mama in the trenches of this wild and beautiful ride we’re on!

I'm a total podcast geek,and I LOVE this podcast! I live in the middle of nowhere, so I'm in the car driving my kids to activities more than I'd like (or is wise) right now. But Angela and Maren make those drives so much more fun! I remember listening to their first episodes and falling a wee bit in mom-love with them. The quality of the podcast production and content keeps getting better and better, and it has become a must-listen for me. I love how authentic and practical they are, and I love homeschooling alongside them - at least virtually! :) Thanks, ladies!

I love this podcast so much. These ladies help me to feel like I don’t have to do it all and help me tame my inner perfectionist. This podcast is often my mental lifeline when I start to feel overwhelmed by the responsibility I have taken on by pulling my kids out of school to educate at home. Highly highly recommend.

My favorite thing about this podcast is that I walk away without a massive list of things I suddenly feel I “need” to buy. I feel like I’m enough for myself and for my kids. These ladies feel like my girlfriends and biggest cheerleaders. They genuinely love their listeners, and I feel it and feel so nourished by it. I feel like my homeschool looks nothing like theirs but that is more than okay.

I have just discovered the podcast and am binge listening. First off - I literally laugh with them and that is not common with podcasts for me! The have an infectious laugh and I love it! Secondly - I LOVE how casual they are with their planning and homeschooling! I love planning but my follow through isn't always great because I have over planned. I absolutely LOVE this podcast and you ladies!!!

I always look forward to a new Homeschool Unrefined podcast! I love how real these ladies are - no agenda, just living life with their kids at home. It is so refreshing! I especially love how I have been able to get to know them through their intro chats and what they're loving this week. They may not realize it, but I consider them to be my friends, too! :-) They've filled a real need in the homeschool community.
