    Audio needs some work
Love the content but audio needs improvement. I usually listen with headphones and having one voice in each ear, at different volumes, doesn’t work well. None of my other podcasts have this problem. Please, figure out how to record so this doesn’t happen.

    Interesting
This is an interesting topic but the host talks over the guest and interrupts too much. Also editing is pretty subpar.

    Great content, terrible audio
I really enjoy this quilting podcast. The conversations are very genuine, relaxed, and intelligent. My only issue is that I would think by now they would have better audio control. Listening in the car, it’s frequent to have one speaker sound like they are shouting and then the next is inaudible.

    Great podcast
I love this podcast! It’s extremely informative, addresses various aspects of the industry, and always provides new information. There is always something to learn. The enthusiasm of the speakers shows and it’s contagious. Thank you for helping us learn more about business, planning, and creating! Sincerely, @quilting.in.romania

    Mask episodes.
Why so many? I’ve deleted all but 2. Enough already!

    Move on
I enjoyed the podcast initially. I would like to see a reprieve from the current focus on masks. I need quilting talk.
  • theredrumofcreepy
    Has some very good episodes....
.....that interview interesting quilters and people working in the fiber industry, but the last 25+ episodes have been about making masks. Making masks is a nobel endeavor but I don’t care to listen to that many podcasts about it. I might check back in a year or so and see if she begins interviewing interesting people again.

    Meh...
Started off as a good podcast. Sound quality and content has fallen off. WAY off.

I really like this podcast but they need to fix the sound issues.

    Brief review
Love this podcast, but quality of some interviews is so poor I can’t listen. One suggestion is to not interrupt guests for repetitive comments . And I love the interviewer’s enthusiasm.

    Was hoping for better
I’ve only tried listening to 2 shows and could not finish either. The first was with Rob Appell and the sound quality was horrible. I could barely hear him and had to turn the volume almost all the way up, then when she spoke, it about blew my eardrums out. The second time was with The Stitch Ladies. The fact the host was eating food/chips(?) while interviewing was just plain rude. Between listening to all the food wrapper crinkling, food crunching, and the host *constantly* talking over the guests, I just gave up. I was really looking forward to this podcast, but I am not a fan and will look for these guests on other podcasts.

    Love Just Wanna Quilt
Just found this podcast and working my way thru the episodes. Elizabeth’s genuine interest in all things quilting has made these so great to listen to. I have learned so much!

    So much great info!
I am a new listener and I absolutely love this podcast! I’m learning so much and finding new people to follow on social media. The only reason why I gave it four stars is because all of the episodes I’ve listened to so far have had some significant sound/editing issues. Many times the guest can’t be heard of the volume is way low for them. Because of this I’m constantly adjusting the volume. There are also times when you can hear dogs barking or children coming to ask either the host or the guest questions. In the long run, not a huge deal, but just a little distracting. Other than that, I think this is an awesome podcast!

    Love!
Great quilting podcast featuring famous quilters, industry big wigs and also down-home interviews with average, every day quilt makers. Tons of great information and you don’t have to wait a month for the next show to drop. Just Wanna Quilt is out of Tulane Law School. Professor Elizabeth Townsend-Gard’s is the host and her copyright research project looks at the quilting industry. The podcast discusses how artists /designers and everyday folk in this industry protect their product. I wasn’t really looking for copyright information but I have learned so much about what a small cottage business owner has to be aware of to take care of themselves. Thoroughly enjoyable!

    Entertaining and informative!
I have listened from the very beginning and am a huge fan! The interviews are always interesting, whether the guests are super-famous or just “regular” quilters. So many aspects of the quilting world are highlighted, and I learn something new with every episode!

    Good guests, terrible host
I seem to find myself constantly coming back to this podcast and essentially hate-listening. It appears the host has a grant or some kind of funding from her law school, so has lots of time and resources available to do a lot of interviews and other side projects with her “quilting army”, so this podcast is incredibly prolific. I love how often I see a new episode pop up because it just provides more great guests with varied backgrounds and quilting information to share. I always want to explore their stories and hear what they have to say. But then I listen and every single time just wish to god it was someone else interviewing them. I’m sure she’s a great law professor, but I feel this host is either not suited for interviewing or just not making an effort, I’m not sure which. She is clearly an enthusiastic hobby quilter, but she is far too enthusiastic when she is constantly interrupting her guests just to say “yeah” and “that’s so interesting” over and over and over ad nauseum. When she has asked a thoughtful question about something more deep and the guest starts to answer she interrupts halfway through to paraphrase what she assumes they were going to say with her own opinion or feelings and you can often hear the guest afterward just pausing and saying “mmhmm” or “yeah” in a tone that definitely doesn’t mean that the host expressed what they were about to say. And yes, as other reviewers have apparently said, it is irritating that she takes time in the interview to surf the web and google their websites while doing the interview just so she can comment on a link as if it is so miraculous that “Oh and here’s the list of names and you can click right through to their websites—that’s SO COOL!” Are we just discovering how websites work? And why are you taking up your guest’s and listeners’ time with that? Sorry to rant, I would not be so frustrated if the podcast didn’t have so much potential—so much time and access to so many great guests. But since the podcast is for an academic project and not actually for the listeners, I guess it really doesn’t matter.

Terrible sound from telephone guest. Poor prep of the host regarding what materials she had. Just an irritating listen.

    Sound needs improvement
I stopped listening because the quality of the sound was inconsistent and made listening difficult trying to adjust the volume during segments. I did try listening on different devices. It's sad because Townsend-Gard asks good and interesting questions.

    Favorite quilting podcast!
This podcast has it all... from fabric designers, quilting rock stars, company CEOs, small business owners, everyday quilters... so much diversity. Mix that in with copyright and trademark knowledge, and you get a very well rounded show. 🖤

    Editing?
I don’t know if any other way to reach you but your interview with Martelli Notions was not edited before posting! I heard about things where he said “this is between you and me” and he was going to give you his direct line, etc. Anyhow, just wanted to let you know. This was the first podcast of yours that I’ve listened to.

    Fantabulous!
I LOVE this podcast. It’s blowing my mind. It is such a wonderful way of getting perspective on our amorphous quilting world, hearing all kinds of fascinating people talk about fascinating social/economic/artistic/philosophical topics while sharing the joy of this hobby. Soooo good!

Interrupts guests and uh-huhs over their speaking
Tried to listen to interview with Rob Appell. He was great, but she was loud and he was quiet, so her interruptions (literally finishing his story for him) and uh-huhs over his words were so distracting I stopped.
  • fritter51
    Don't eat while podcasting
I only listened to hear Pam & Lynn from The Stitch. It was enjoyable but very disruptive to hear crunchy while interviewing. Very unprofessional.

Nice to find a new pod cast but...
Overall the content of this podcast has been enjoyable and introduced me to new quilters and artists. However, the very common interruptions by children, friends, cats and dogs are irritating and please do not eat while interviewing! The noise of a hand reaching into a chip bag (?) and the subsequent chewing makes me want to scream. I believe this podcast is a year old and can’t believe it hasn’t been addressed prior to now.

    Fun
So much fun to listen to. Great guests. Elizabeth is a great host.

    Host interrupts guests constantly
This would be a great podcast if not for two things: 1) No audio quality control. Whoever produces this makes absolutely no effort to balance the volume of the intro music, which often is too loud and runs over the beginning of the interview. Also, technical problems are not edited out. We literally hear everything that goes wrong, which does not make for an enjoyable listening experience. And 2) the host constantly interrupts her guests. Just let them talk! Isn’t the podcast supposed to be about them?

I look forward to every episode!
Absolutely loved today's podcast (Jan 3, 2019). Elizabeth & JoAn are amazing and fun. Such a joy that left me smiling! I can't wait to get quilting on my longarm.

    Amazing!
I love this podcast. I listen to hours of podcasts each week while I'm working and this one is always at the top of my list. Elizabeth does an amazing job interviewing and gathering the stories from her guests. I love getting an inside peek into the business of the quilting industry especially in regards to intellectual property and copyright.

    Guests are great
The guests have great stories to tell. Would appreciate a little more prep work to help things go smoother. A little less talk from Elizabeth to allow the guest to have more talk time. Maybe edit out the internet searches while interviewing and definitely the clanking of utensils and chewing food.

Wonderful chance to listen as the research project progresses!
Townsend Gard is a rare academic willing to share her source material as it is being recorded as a part of her bigger research project and we are lucky enough to get to listen in. This just does not happen generally until after the project is published and I appreciate her openness and transparency, especially given that this a major criticism from the public toward academics. How wonderful. So yes, this has lower production value and the sound could be balanced better- that will improve with experience, but this isn't commercial. Generally anyone who would want to listen to this material would have to dive into the university library archives long after the work was published to get a listen. So as a former academic to a current one, thank you Elizabeth for taking us on your journey as you go and showing others how research can be done! Well done.

    Great podcast!
Thoroughly enjoying this podcast! The interviews are casual and informative. I feel like we could be hanging out together.

    Not worth the time
This is the worst podcast I have ever listened to. Why? Because the interviewer is so amateur and so unprepared every single time. I love quilts. I would love to hear more about copyright law as it relates to quilts. I would love to hear Mary Fons and Tula Pink. But I can’t because the interviewer is so incredibly annoying. Prepare ahead of time! Don’t waste my time by recording all of your setup and follow up that has no value to the listener. Give the guests a heads up on the topics you would like them to cover in the interview so that they can be prepared. If that ever happens, I would be glad to listen. For now, I’m unsubscribing.

    Best episode yet
Elizabeth’s interview with Tula Pink and Mary Fons is the best episode yet - so much insight into the industry and the work of both of these women. I love Quiltfolk magazine and just subscribed to it and agree with Mary it is new and fresh and delightfully full of quilt stories and inspiration! Great format and interesting questions and guests. The host does a great job of making her guests feel relaxed. One of my favorite podcasts to sew to!

    Thank you Elizabeth
For this labor of love. Your interviews are interesting and inspiring and the perfect companion while I’m quilting. I either learn something new or I’m motivated by each interview.

    Good start
This host is off to a good start in podcasting and once she learns the technical side of balancing the volume with her guest it’ll be easier to listen. Good content and will be informative for avid quilters.

    Great quilting podcast!
I love learning about all of the various people involved in quilting, both professionals and regular people. The interviews have a good flow and offer lots of great content.

    Variety of interviews is wonderful!
Thanks Elizabeth! To have interviews with such a wide variety of quilters is certainly a plus for your podcast - I look forward to every one! Though a bit long on some of the interviews, the questions are provocative and enlightening.
