After RBS ended in December, Rick kept the RBS brand and just changed the name and profile pictures on each podcast outlet and the YouTube channel and kept the subscribers and strong reviews (and he did the same with Rick and Bubba University with his “strange encounters” pod) instead of creating from scratch. Meanwhile, his former cohost, Bubba, has had to start everything from scratch to get analytics for his podcast. That was the first straw. Listened for a bit, and it’s not the same. Trying too much to get the laughs, and something’s definitely missing and was getting stale. Took a break and listened to some old archives of RBS (especially the best of shows), but recently, they deleted almost all RBS episodes. Final straw. Enjoyed the “good time gang’s” kickoff hour and the Sport Czars. Hope one day they can start their own podcast/show in the next few years.

The haters don’t want you to know that RBS is actually better. R&B had unfortunately become nothing but lame greatest hits type stuff. Predictable, kinda boring, only tuning in because I felt attached & obligated after listening for so long. There may be still a segment or two here & there that I don’t like, but it at least feels fresh & exciting. I actually want to listen.

I was saddened to learn that the Rick and Bubba show was ending, but was comforted knowing that Rick would continue. After all, he was the main man on R&B. I listened to the first episode with excitement, but immediately knew something was different. Apparently Bubba was the secret ingredient to the fun radio family I listened to loyally for 30 years. I first thought it might be ‘new show jitters’, so I gave it a couple of weeks. No, it only got worse. Rick seems to have regressed to shock-jock tactics, making fun of callers (the one couple who collected the police badges, for example) and other things. I am thankful, though, because I’ve discovered a whole world of podcast entertainment that I never would have known existed (not the least of these is Bubba on the Lake, which is so fun).

Disappointed in Rick. I no longer am able to listen to him.

The 4.7 stars review score (as of 6/12/25) INCLUDES all of the old 5-star reviews for the Rick & Bubba show, which is dishonest since The Rick Burgess Show is a completely different show. Don’t be fooled thinking the new show is rated 4.7….its not. The Rick & Bubba Show reviews should be cut out since that was a completely different (and fantastic) show. The Rick Burgess Show score is actually MUCH LOWER.

This show has me dying laughing every single day. Absolutely LOVE it. So amazing that the guys can have the platform to share their faith while also keeping a good balance of what’s going on in the world.

Should be called Rick and the yes men. Same old bits done even more without bubba’s interests contributing to the show. It’s definitely not a new show. Same show except a title change a two people gone. Got so tired of Gary impression and man of 1k voices. Took a few weeks off to see if I’d miss and won’t be back. R&B was so much better

Had an amazing show for all those years and for lack of better judgment you got rid of the glue holding the show together. I’ve tried to listen and go along with the “new” show, but it’s not the same without Bubba’s contribution.

Really missing Bubbas gentleman humility. Rick’s arrogance is just too much sometimes. Love the other 3 guys but there is too much bloviating from #1!

After watching and listening to the new show, It’s very clear who the heart and soul of Rick & Bubba was…. He’s clearly living his best life on the lake these days…

This should basically be called “The Man church recap show.” Nothing is of substance. Adler and Greg keep it going.

Unfortunately this is just a cheap knockoff of the old show. I tried, but it’s just not funny without Bubba!

Kinda hard to listen to I’m not saying I hate the show I just wish you could find a iconic cast member someone who would hook the audience like bubba did in the old show although I will admit even without bubba the fact that this show is still operating is impressive on its own plz stay strong and find your self a new bubba P.S has Greg always been a cast member or no?

The old team had much better content. Could listen to the whole 3-4 hours without skipping. Now I skip sections due to lack of entertaining content

I know you’re building the new brand with some old bits along with some new stuff to see what works and what doesn’t, I get it. What the show needs right now is continuity. It’s all over the road a little bit right now. Trying to fill that air time void of where Bubba was is a daunting task. I believe overtime, you will achieve that with the growth of the show.

Love the new show and format! Love that Adler is heard more! Dynamite comes in small packages!

I listened to the Rick and Bubba show for years and now I enjoy this show I haven’t missed a show ,personally I think Adler is so small a bidet would blow him off the toilet lol love you guys

Sorry to say but have to agree with so many on here I loved R&B Bubba was the one to tie everything together and to direct a great radio show now it’s just 4 hours of Rick putting everyone in a handle because he’s as we all know low hassle Rick

Desperately seeking Bubba. Wow. I want to be respectful but hours of just Rick talking about Rick is not the ‘droids I was looking for’… The saving grace now is Greg. He’s a real person and entertaining. Whatever you do Keep Greg.

Bubba brought stability to Rick’s narcissism and gigantic ego. The new show just ain’t it. It’s just a bunch of grown men acting like children and Rick talking about himself for 4 hours straight. Miss the format of the old show.

I miss the Rick and Bubba show. It was the best show out there for years. The new show is different, but still good. I appreciate the effort they are putting towards the new show.

Whatever happened with Bubba, the show is not the same without him. The chemistry is just not there. Not a fan anymore.

I loved the Rick and bubba show. Bubba brought such a funny and smart perspective to the show. This new format of 5 hours of fun is just not entertaining. I liked hearing Rick and bubbas perspectives on the news of the day. This new show of just horsing around is just an unentertaining waste of time. Plus Rick keeping all the followers and kicking bubba to be out on his own was pretty low.

Rick’s god complex has gotten out of hand. If you listen to all the stories they tell he always somehow turns it around to be about him. Textbook narcissism. His choice to continue the show without Bubba is the icing on the cake. Never choose a paycheck over your friends.

Been listening to them on and off for the past 10 years, and they have been a big part of my childhood. And im sad to see them go, but all good things must come to a end

I’m from the “great” state of Alabama, where R&B call home base. I have always listened in some capacity whether it was on the ride to school each morning, at early live events, and in many, many waiting rooms and garages, I have listened to several best of albums and enjoyed hours of laughter at the antics of the Good time gang. However, the content and the sense of humor began to curdle and what was once good old fashioned fun with a southern flavor became a sour and bitter retelling of the headlines, with jabs thrown in at anybody or anything that (mostly Rick) disagreed with. Combine this with the near constant proselytizing and it soon becomes abundantly clear why all the interns who “stay on” seem to fall into rank and file with Burgess’s beliefs, (note Chris “Eddie Van” Adler’s near constant apologies for daring to vote for Obama ONCE) Gone are the fun segments like “the Fatchelor” “ the 13 working days of Horror” or the many antics of Calvin “Speedy” Wilburn. Rick and company remind me of members of my family and it saddens me just as much to see them fall into the pipeline of the far right, losing the charm and humor that gave this show staying power, something it clearly it no longer has.

They have set the bar I take the way I live life with the direction from many sources God being #1 These men paved the way for daily living

I’m gonna miss you guys. Y’all helped me out during the time I lost my daddy in 2016. I worked about hour from home and music just made things worse. One day I was tired of the silent ride so I tried the local station for Christmas music but found y’all instead. I have been a loyal listener since. I’m a podcaster these days and listen while I work the night shift

I’ve been listening to these guys a ever since I was a kid love the show and love the way yall love Jesus and I truly appreciate how much yall have helped me through life

They don't cuss or talk about bad things. Apparently, there's new AI listening for certain words. Since they discuss politics & religion, they say those words. Sad misuse of technology by Apple on this E rating.
