This is the best horror movie podcast I’ve discovered in years. Josh and Alex really have some great insight and also they are hilarious. They make me laugh every episode. Don’t sleep on this one!

I’d like to like this podcast. The hosts do seem to know their stuff. But Joshua Griffey is so overbearing that he just gets in the way. Enough with the shouting and the forced laughter. Just talk, guys. And let each other finish a sentence every once in a while.

Killer podcast, the chemistry between Josh and Alex is wonderful! I L-O-V-E when they cover messed up movies, you know, movies that make say “DANG! That’s a MESSED UP MOVIE!!!” I’d love to listen to a whole pod where they just talk about Messed Up Movies, and I get to hear the unique takes on edgy independent cinema, that only messed up minds like Josh and Alex can cook up!

…but I finally found a good Horror podcast. Not hacky, honest, good sound, no lisps (sorry, but it’s still a form of radio…), sound chemistry. I just hit Follow! First episode up: “The Invitation” UPDATE: Okay, it’s not a Horror podcast exclusively but it’s still good!

This show puts me in a mood where I feel like I’m at a great dive bar and apart of those endless conversations/debates about movies you love (and some you don’t). Film Alchemist takes apart the films we love to find out the magic within but the magic of the show is all Griffey and Dandino who not only entertain but guide listeners along the way through the art of cinema!

I’ve been listening to podcasts for years and am constantly looking for ones who focus on the content that I love. The Film Alchemist is as close to perfect as I can find. All of the movies that I revere are viewed in the same way here. Most of my favorites have been covered with opinions very close to mine. They make films that I’m not interested in sound watchable. I’m not sure how this was not a featured recommendation for me. Glad that I found it. The chemistry between the hosts and guests is great. I can’t wait to cover the backlog and for this year’s 31 day marathon. Thanks for many hours of entertainment and thoughtful commentary.

Big fan of this one, love deep dives on specific films and these guys take a maximalist approach to that! Keep up the good work

I might not always agree with their opinions but they do the research, stay on topic, and offer genuinely surprising and perceptive analysis that not only gets under the skin of the film at hand, but speaks from a well-rounded base of broader cinematic knowledge. They won’t waste your time and the litany of movies they choose to dissect serves as a pretty good watchlist. A top tier cinema podcast.

The thing that makes this podcast so great is they really do dig into the movies as they are. They don’t try to rewrite the movies, or complain about their choices. They accept movies as they are and really break down what they mean. I love that. I’ve especially loved going through their insane 31 Days of Horror series. This stuff rules!

These guys review some awesome movies and give very thoughtful and funny reviews every time!! Pretty much the only movie podcast that consistently delivers both in terms of quality and quantity imo - highly recommend!

A awesome movie pod for people that think movies can be both great for pure entertainment purposes and for complex insights into the world. You can tell these guys are obsessed with analyzing films but also don’t mind just watching movie for the fun of it.

The hosts are funny, honest, and relatable. I’ve only listened to two episodes so far and am excited to delve into the Alchemist’s archive. Whether you’re a huge movie buff or casual viewer this podcast is most definitely worth a listen.

Came to this pod via YouTube after watching Chris Stuckman’s review of “The Empty Man”, and I listened to their episode discussing the film. I became absolutely enthralled by the hosts’ combined ability to talk to each other like a couple of buddies at a bar, without ignoring the profundity of the films they’re discussing. They are challenged by them; moved by them. As a fly on the wall to these conversations, so am I. I nearly cried listening to them talk about The Shape of Water, and the nature of the love story being told there. All of this to say, these guys have so much more to offer than what you might expect. Don’t get me wrong, they’re very funny, and have great personalities, but there’s a lot more to glean from this pod. Give them a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

These fellas talk movies the way I like .. honest , thoughtful and just the right amount of good natured ribbing. A fantastic conversational podcast.. good for when your lonely if that makes sense, and if it does you’ll have a great time

Very entertaining. They choose great movies and always provide a revealing look into the psychology of the movie. I have really enjoyed THE GOLDEN CHILD and CHRISTINE episodes.

Found this searching for pods on old b-grade horror and sci fi flicks. Two really cool dudes (sometimes others fill in) talking about movies we love. They do all sorts of movies and are insightful, and more importantly, FUN. They’ve really expanded the types of films they cover and if you search for your favorite flicks, I’m sure they’ve done a bunch of them. Classic 90s, all sorts of horror and sci if, German arthouse stuff... so much awesome content. (A lot of stuff other pods aren’t covering). Def put this in your rotation!

I might be 12 to 15 years older than Josh and Alex, however, we've grown up loving a lot of the same movies. I can't say enough great things about this podcast. Keep up the great work!

A lot of podcasts have dips in quality, but Film Alchemist always comes through with compelling analysis and funny banter. The balance of discourse and comedy is just right. Keep it up, guys!

Great show with hosts that are passionate and funny. One of the guys sounds so much like Bill Hader so that’s an added bonus.

Finally a film podcast with real, intelligent analysis! This isn’t just plot summary and what they think of the movie, these guys go deep without coming off as pretentious. It’ll make you smarter while feeling like you’re chatting about movies with your friends.

This podcast deserves 5 starts based on it’s Friday the 13th Part 2 breakdown alone. Finally someone who know how to vocalize every facet of what makes that movie a top tier 80’s classic. Hooked from there and blasted through 10 shows in 3 days. Good work

Griffey and Alex make you feel like you are hanging out with them as they dissect some great films. What makes this pod different is that while they discuss classic films that everyone loves, they also cover cult classics and hidden gems that you never knew you needed to see. They put their passion into the podcast and it really shows!

My friend Chris was on the Terminator pods and I’ve been listening since. For me, there is nothing more fun than hanging out with my friends talking about the movies we love. This feels like being a fly on the wall in another set of friends conversations about a ton of great films. Lots of great takes on movies I already love and some flicks I have yet to check out. Keep it up!
