    Excessively Diverting
This is so fun. I enjoy Molly and her guesses about what’s gonna happen. Becca is great with her “I will neither confirm or deny”. I also love when they cover the adaptations and retellings and they have led me to some books, I might have otherwise not known about.
  • Don't Wait... Just buy it!
    Not for Experienced Austen Fans.
I really wanted to like this show and tried multiple times but I cannot handle it. I loved the idea of an inexperienced reader exploring Austen for the first time but neither of the hosts have the respect or desire to explore the author beyond the mainstream romance tropes. After the third time that the word canonically was spit out like this was the Marvel universe, I bailed for the final time. If you are here expecting fainting, swooning and Lady Whistledown, you might be okay. If you appreciate Jane Austen for her wit and social commentary…. Just move on.

    Best Austen read along podcast
As someone reading through the Austen canon for the first time, I was thrilled to find Pod and Prejudice. Now I’m just anxiously waiting for them to get to Northanger Abbey.

    Whomst!
I love this podcast, I was a huge P&P fan, but hadn't read any other Austen until I found your podcast and now I'm reading along with you! However, the real reason I'm writing a review is to let you know that you have infected my speech patterns and now anytime someone says "Who" I always respond "Whomst?"

    Loving it
I really like vicariously living through experiencing Jane Austen’s books for the first time through Molly. I can’t wait for you to read Mansfield Park which is my favorite. My Jane Austen hot take is that Fanny Price deserves better than a choice between Henry Crawford and Edmund Bertram. As a Jewish girl who enjoys Jane Austen, I also love listening to your experience and comparing it to my own.

    Clueless
I could partially enjoy the episodes covering P&P (the book), simply because it’s fun to hear someone experience the novel for the very first time. Some episodes were tough to bear, with the hosts knowing little to nothing about Austen or the time period, and often aren’t sure what time period the book is taking place in. Their comments really present no new or interesting insights into the work. I thought that the episodes covering the 90’s screen adaptation of P&P would be easier to stomach, but they’re somehow even worse. I’m finally bailing. If you like podcasts that are backed by no preliminary background research, and think that repeated shouts of “THE PATRIARCHY!!!” signal intelligence, then this one is for you.

    Ups and Downs
It's fun to go through Austen's works slowly and methodically. Emma is one of my favorites by her and definitely has my favorite adaptation... but I'm so glad you're almost done with it. Doing an obnoxious, exaggerated voice to mock Augusta is fun to do, I'm sure. To listen to, however, it absolutely is not. It was done way too much and for way too long and was the most grating thing I've ever had the displeasure to hear (and I used to listen to the hosts of TCO on the regular so that's saying something). I almost quit the podcast several times because of it and definitely put off listening to new episodes.

    So much fun!
As a person who loves Austen novels and adaptions, it is so wonderful to live vicariously through Molly as she experiences these stories for the first time. It is so fun to hang out with these two friends while they explore these books thoughtfully, but without too much stuffiness.

    Love this pod cast
I always wanted to experience Jane Austin Again for the first time. I found away. Listening to Molly. Just finished last episode. Becca you are great at keeping a even reaction. Hope you will consider Persuasion next. Looking forward to next episode.

    I love this podcast!
I love both Molly and Becca! I love how Molly hasn’t read Jane Austen and her predications are fantastic. I love how Becca does all she can to not spoil it for Molly! Their commentary is the best! I have started at the start of the podcast and I am enthralled. Keep on going!

    My emotional support podcast
Jane, Becca, and Molly got me through a pretty rough year, and they have become my go-to comfort listen. It’s like a book club with clever and adorable friends, making the forever relatable queen Jane that much more accessible. I’m an Austen stan myself, and I’ve recommended this to so many people who have told me it’s helped them uncover their love of regency romance. Can never give it enough stars.

Great combo of literary analysis and fangirling
This podcast is ideal for anyone who loves Jane Austen AND pop culture. I love how they break down not only the novels themselves but also the many, many Austen adaptations out there. The one thing that makes me squirm a little bit is that sometimes Becca can be kind of condescending to Molly. By season 3, Molly has read two Jane Austen books and consumed tons of other Austen-related content, so she’s pretty well-versed in the topic now and makes lots of relevant points, but sometimes it feels like their dynamic is still “one person knows everything and has to explain everything to the other person who knows nothing.” I think Becca has only read one other book after Emma though, so it will be interesting to see how they approach a story neither of them knows anything about!

    Obsessed.
I love this podcast so much! I’ve read Pride and Prejudice many, many times, and I love hearing Molly’s fresh comments and Becka’s guidance throughout the book. I really hope y’all read Persuasion at some point because I’d love to hear both your takes on that book. Thank for you being my new best friends! 💙

    My actual childhood!
When I was a wee teenager, my friends and I OBSESSED with these books and movies. It’s been really lovely to revisit them as an adult with my new “friends” Molly and Becca, who started recording on the exact day in 2019 that I married the Colonel Brandon to my Marianne. I’ve gone through most of the episodes in less than a week. Thanks for bringing back a little of my pre-COVID joy and sanity, ladies.

Had to skip the end of Season 1
I love listening to you go through the books, but you lost me with the guests that really hate the adaptions. I understand preferring the BBC to the ‘05 pride and prejudice, but ripping the ‘05 movie to shreds for the last 2 episodes of season 1 wasn’t enjoyable as a fan of both.

I love this podcast so so so much! I listen nonstop all day and I feel like you guys are my friends :) One small note, as someone who’s favorite film of all time is 2005 p&p, pls don’t bring people on the podcast who hate the movies we love. Keep going, I will keep listening!! :)

I’ve read Austen so many times ..
But listening to this podcast makes me feel like I’m reading it for the first time again. That’s a rare, awesome thing.
  • KRoJoHo
I wish I could give them 100 stars
Molly and Becca perfectly capture the true joy of Jane Austen, which is the way her depictions of human relationships and character are absolutely timeless.

Convinced me that loving the movie was not enough. Fun to read along as they dissect each chapter.

Excellent for Austen fans and newbies
I finally caught up on all the episodes! I love this podcast so much. Molly and Becca are wonderful and hilarious hosts, and really take a deep dive into Jane Austen’s works, giving me a nice refresher on the content as well as learning new things I hadn’t realized before. I can’t wait to follow along and read Emma for the first time when they cover it next, and I can’t wait until they cover Persuasion!

    Good concept but
Not enough accuracy for me to give a better review. The hosts are really fun and I loved this idea. I wish I could give a better rating.

    The cussing is not necessary
I was super excited about this podcast after a recommendation from a friend. I tried so hard to get through the first episode. But the use of the F Bomb several times completely ruined it for me. I do hope that you could do an edited version, or in the future cut back on the cuss words. I know so many people who love Jane Austen & her works, but they prefer things much more PG like me.
  • Botanygeek
    Entertaining and insightful!
Love the show and I was so sad to realize I had listened to all of the episodes already! The juxtaposition of Molly’s inexperience with Becca’s prior knowledge of the stories is delightful and brings new perspectives to these novels that I hadn’t considered before. Also glad you loved 95 P&P as much as you did as it’s my favorite miniseries of all time. Can’t wait for you to do the rest of Austen’s works and watch all of the films!
  • bnr_143
    Nice concept, but…
Maybe I’m a snob. Actually, I probably am. But I’ve read all of Austen’s novels numerous times. So I figured the host would be a tad more knowledgeable about her and her life and times. These conversations have no actual insight into Austen or literature.

    Like reading with friends! ♥️
Becca and Molly are pals who read together but I always feel like they're reading with ME, too! Thank you so much for sharing your time and talents and passion with us — we've built such a wonderful community around loving classic romantic literature!

    THE BEST
This podcast is absolutely amazing! I found this podcast on a complete whim, but I ended up signing up for an Author Analysis: Jane Austen course through my university because of this podcast! I’ve talked about this podcast multiple times in my course and have encouraged others to take a listen. I cannot wait to see what you guys decide to read after “Sense and Sensibility!” Insta: _kateallen__

It Is A Truth Universally Acknowledged…
That a single girl in possession of a great love for Jane Austen’s novels, must be in want of a podcast that talks about them. I can’t get enough of this podcast!! I started 2 days ago and have been listening non-stop since. I don’t really have any friends who actually like Pride and Prejudice or Jane Austen, and it’s been so nice having someone out there who loved reading them as much as I did! Insta: kamee_carroll

The Austen Podcast I’ve Always Wanted
A friend of mine nonchalantly recommended this podcast to me recently, not because she has ever listened to it or has even read P&P, but because it showed up on her recommended section and she thought of me. I was instantly hooked. Becca and Molly are a perfect pair to recap all of Austen’s work. When someone reads Pride and Prejudice for the first time, it can sometimes be really hard to get through if you are not familiar with the language, but that is not the case here. Molly immediately picks up on the humor and beautiful details that Austen inserts almost sneakily into the story, and the two of them almost always react the exact same way I do when I go through the books. As I don’t really have anyone in my life that I can geek out on Austen with, this podcast is a God-send. I can’t wait until they recap Emma and Persuasion! Instagram: Allyson.Dodson
  • Welcome to Twin Speaks
    Literature podcasting at its finest
Becca and Molly have captured the heart and soul of literary analysis through podcasting. With their book club-like approach to reading Jane Austen’s classics, they make the listeners feel like they are truly part of the conversation, whether the listener has read Jane Austen before or not. Their 21st century takes on these classic novels are intelligent, open minded, and quite often hilarious! This podcast is a regular in my rotation, and it should be yours too!

Great but maybe skip guest episodes
I really enjoy this podcast! It’s fun to listen to Molly’s experience with Jane Austen for the first time. However, if you are a huge academic Janeite I might recommend skipping episodes with guests. I’ve listened to all and I get a bit frustrated with some of them and their opinions. Which I know probably isn’t fair but I think others might feel the same so I would like to save you the time lol.

    Love this pod!
I binged all of the first season plus the movie and tv adaptions in about two weeks and have caught up with season two, it’s killing me now to have to wait for new episodes each month. I listen on Spotify but came to Apple podcasts to subscribe and review as well. Keep up the beautiful work!

    My favorite
I listened to all of season 1 and caught up with season 2 in A WEEK. It’s my new favorite podcast! If you love all things Austen and pop-reference crossovers and hot takes and Daddy Bennet, this is your new favorite podcast too!

    I love them most ardently
I love this podcast so much. 11/10 recommend for fans of Jane Austen. I laugh, I cry, I get mad at their opinions of Pride and Prejudice (2005) but I still love them so much. Excited for Sense & Sensibility!

Jane Austen n00b and loving this!
I just read pride & prejudice for the first time in my 39 years of life, and found this podcast via Instagram. I am loving it, and can’t wait to see which book they cover next! I’ll probably read along and be discovering the joys of Austen along with Molly.

    My obsession in a Podcast!
I love all things P&P and I was looking for a podcast that I could listen to on the way to work and back and found them🥳 I am listening to them reading the book and i’m so jealous that Molly gets to read/know about P&P for the first time! I am excited to hear about them watching the BBC version, it’s my absolute favorite🥰
  • Asterope76
    I love this
This is very very good. My only qualm is in the second episode they refer to the setting of Jane Austen’s novels as the Edwardian era, which is about 95 years after Jane Austen’s books were published. The books are set in the Regency era. I don’t mind that they don’t know it’s the Regency era, and I would be fine if they said Victorian era, but Edwardian era is too far off. It’s like mixing up the Restoration era and the Elizabethan era. That stated this podcast is wonderful but I would enjoy seeing a guest historian. It is a very funny podcast. Highly recommend

Stay proper and find a husband
I just read P&P again and decided to look for a podcast on Spotify to continue my Jane Austen cravings. This podcast by Becca and Molly is so addicting. It’s edited wonderfully, and it’s the perfect blend of millennial humor and literary analysis. I felt like I was discussing one of my favorite books with a close friend or sitting in a good discussion group while listening to this. The pair have noted and pointed out many things that I had either never caught or hadn’t thought of in this classic story. Give it a try!

In which Jane Austen is discussed, with hilarious results...
This is a fantastic podcast, in which Molly and Becca discuss Jane Austen's "Pride & Prejudice" (and let us hope they delve into ALL of her novels and short stories after this). Since she's never read the book, Molly's take on it is fresh and fun. Becca has read most Austen novels, and is Molly's guide to the wonderful world of sweet Bingley, arrogant Darcy, mean girl Catherine, sassy Lizzy, and all the rest. The ladies have great chemistry as they go chapter by chapter, discussing the book and their thoughts on it. Absolutely outstanding podcast that is so entertaining, they got my husband wondering what all the "Pride & Prejudice" hype was about. Needless to say, Molly and Becca must have a special kind of magic, because they and they alone can claim credit for getting my husband to sit down and watch one movie version... and he enjoyed it. So if you've never read (the preferred method) or watched (that works, too!) "Pride & Prejudice," what are you waiting for? Get thee to a book or television, so you can nod and laugh along with Molly and Becca's commentary.

    Austen, but make it hilarious
This podcast is amazing!!! If only Becca and Molly had been in my freshman year English class to tear apart Mr. Darcy! These ladies are brilliant and SO funny. This podcast is a freaking joy. ❤️❤️

    So freaking insightful
Listen, it’s just refreshing to listen to a podcast where people are talking about heteronormative relationships from a perspective that includes a queer lens. That’s all I gotta say. Also ily Kidya

This podcast answered my Pride and Prejudice prayers
I feel like I should preface this review by saying I have never actually read Pride and Prejudice, but I binge-watched the 1995 mini-series last week and became a little bit obsessed with the story. I wanted to talk to someone about it but couldn’t find anyone who had seen or read it, so I went in search of a podcast and this is exactly what I was looking for! The hosts do a great job of explaining the plot in a relatable way and their banter is super entertaining. I blew through all available episodes in a couple of days and I can’t to hear more!
  • leya VD
    Incredible, funny, & insightful
This podcast is awesome! For the literary lovers, femme lovers, and artist lovers, this podcast feels like you want to grab a hot cup of tea and curl by the fire and listen to your new best friends in your ears ❤️

    So freaking good.
I was going through a low time and found myself watching all of the Pride and Prejudice TV adaptations and forgot how good they were. I wanted something more because I wanted to talk to someone about them, so I went in search for a podcast literally just typing in “Pride and Prejudice” and found this podcast. I literally binge listened to the first 4 episodes and became a patreon subscriber. Not only is the analysis both insightful and hilarious, the chemistry between the two hosts is amazing. They make me laugh so hard while I’m at work (especially when Molly said she pictured nearly every man as Colin Firth). I literally got so excited there was a new episode today, I had to leave a review. I can’t wait for more episodes and more books to come. You guys are awesome!

    A must-listen for lit fans!
This podcast is a must-listen for diehard fans of Jane Austen and people looking to learn more about her and her work alike! Molly and Becca’s insightful and witty banter is the perfect supplement to Austen’s words and makes me want to do a deep dive into more of her work! Looking forward to the next episode and future of this charming podcast.
