DSeth48MotivationalI am very late to the gun dog community. Just got my first gun dog and started retriever road map along with listening to this podcast. Listen to the latest episode and got inspired to go all the way to episode 1 and start from the beginning. Thanks for the motivation to be a better leader in life and for my dog.

Max GurneySuper Helpful!I love this podcast! I just recently started listening and have started from the beginning and have listened to so many episodes while I’m at work. Between the great information to help me with my own dog, and being inspired to better myself, I couldn’t say enough good things about this podcast. Thank you for the time you spend to bring us this podcast! And to anyone out there looking into Retriever Roadmap, purchase it right now! It has elevated me as a handler so much which has helped my dog grow tremendously! Thank you Josh!

NiemannjvPassionGreat podcast with wonderful information for the retriever owners. Honestly, even great advice for any dog owner who desires to train in other disciplines. Many principals can apply across dog activities.

Norman WeissEssential ListeningAs a first time gun dog owner I scoured every resource and network I had in order to find an authority on dog handling and dog training. It was also incredibly important that I find a resource that spoke to me, had a holistic approach, and ultimately was inspiring. I found this, and more, in spades at River Stone. What’s more is how invaluable and complimentary Josh’s Pod Cast has been to my own experience at his Kennel. As with anything in life, mental approach and attitude often outweighs any specific skill set or expertise in the unlitimate success of an endeavor. Josh does an impeccable job ideating the various approaches that can lead not only to success but more importantly fulfillment. There are no degrees, no certifications that are prerequisites to become a “trainer.” As such, navigating the overnight instagram trainers and the miriad of resources was intimidating. We invest so much into our dogs, I didn’t want to mess it up. I am so grateful for River Stone, and Duk Dogs. Listen to this, you will not be disappointed!

Big stud YZEpisode 117Josh I am glad you talked about your dove hunt and Tuckers “struggles”. I seen the same struggles with my dog just this last weekend, first weekend out this year. Sure the birds he could see he crushed but the ones that were flat or is just in higher grass was hard to find. And truthfully if I had a dog that I had sent to a trainer that was “finished” I would expect that dog to crush every retrieve tall grass or not. Our Egos do get in the way a majority of the time. You are spot on with you mechanic reference if you took a truck to the shop and it broke down on the next trip you wouldn’t think very highly of that mechanic. I enjoy every episode. Thanks for taking the time to provide all this content. I has made me a better person, parent and leader.

Bj24569Motivation MondayI have listened to 102 episodes from start to finish, and closing in on being caught up. There’s nothing like DUK Dogs to get the motivation in for long drives, workouts, and tractor rides while wishing to be working with the pup! Absolutely wonderful show!! 💪🏼

Pastor Ben RathI binge listened!I came across Josh’s podcast while searching for resources that would help me grow as a trainer. There’s plenty of podcasts and other resources on the internet that offer training tactics but what I’ve learned the most about from Josh is the mindset that makes a trainer successful. As a pastor, leader and consultant I feel like I’ve found a like-minded guy in the training field to be my mentor…all through the Dukdogs podcast. Thanks Josh! One of these days I’ll be reaching out to you and Riverstone to explore the possibility of adding one of your pups to our family.

SD-KSVery informativeJosh is great. I called this guy and left him a message he absolutely did not know who I was. He returned my phone call within a couple of days and gave me some time and just talked about a product idea I had. Then I got the opportunity to meet him at pheasant fest in Omaha in 2022 and he was excellent down to earth person and spent as much time with me and talked about dogs until all me questions were answered. I would recommend this podcast to anybody that wants to honestly know about dogs and retriever training.

TDBURNSExcellent!! Detailed work!! Waitlist and Texas DucksJosh, Excellent work sir, Your detailed approach to training dogs is exactly what I have been seeking for many years. Having the ability to listen to your experiences and learn your approach that you have to not just the dogs, but the detailed approach you have to your everyday life is exactly how I strive to run things around my home, my work and my marriage. My wife and I place God before we do each other and It makes things that much easier. I stumbled on to your kennel and podcast by listening to the Ducks Unlimited podcast. (I volunteer with the San Antonio Chapter and the Cibolo Creek Chapter) My wife and I have been looking for a kennel and looking for a new puppy. After speaking with your wife and listening to your podcast, I am certain that we will be getting the waitlist in the next few days. I like how you strive for excellence in everything that you do. It shows in the end with the kind of dogs that you produce. My wife and I are very excited for that year and half to go by quickly so we can bring that puppy home. I know that dog will hunt, I get out around 30 times a season, as I guide for an outfitter that operates in Live oak county in South Texas, so if you are ever in the area and need some local knowledge, please reach out. We Will be in touch with Whitney soon to get on the list. Keep up the great work sir. Thomas Burns.

TTyrusLearning To ReadGreat podcast Josh. I enjoy hearing about setbacks with training as well as accomplishments because those are real life experiences training dogs. I also enjoy that you are upfront and direct with your beliefs about understanding and training dogs.
-
Greg and BlazeLearning To ReadJosh’s timing is impeccable and his content is outstanding. I just listened to his DUK Dogs “Learn To Read” podcast and it really hit home. I’ve spent the last week and a half with my pup Blaze and we have been focusing on “our” obedience and “our” confidence. This little masterpiece of his is spot on. Surprisingly, much of it can be applied to everyday life opportunities as well. Keep it coming Josh. My family looks forward to listening to you each week. Best Regards From Georgia, Greg, Lianne, Cayenne, and Blaze

flying parrottGreat PodcastJosh, I’m looking for my first gun dog, this led me to finding Riverstone Kennels and in turn your podcast. I’ve only listened to a handful of episodes so far, but it is refreshing to listen to you talk about your dogs. It is obvious you act in the best interest of your dogs, episodes like Standards, Take a Breath, and the Field trail/hunt test recap show this. I look forward to future episodes and learning more from you. Thank you.

smferguPuppies & ReflectionsReally enjoy and appreciate this podcast. Josh is a wealth of knowledge and speaks to a wide variety of topics that are incredibly helpful to an amateur handler and gun dog guy. The puppy episodes were great! Very informative and it was awesome to get to hear Whitney’s perspective and learn about her role in the business. Also loved to hear you talk about dog color and address the “fox red” and “silver” dogs. Can’t agree more. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and experience!!
-
Cory and MontyGreat podcastYes, Josh talks some about the how-to part of training hunting dogs. But I enjoy that he shares the ups and downs and why-he-did-this-or-that. Josh tells it like it is and it is a fun listen. River Stone’s Holy Grail (Monty) enjoys listening as well.

B174389The only podcast I listen to weeklyI listen to other podcast here or there depending on who the guest is. But this is the only podcast I listen to just to hear the actual person putting on the podcast. DUK Dogs is great and really adds another perspective on training that has helped me in training my gun dog. I also love the fact that he focuses on UK labs. I run British dogs, so it’s nice to have a podcast that focuses on them. I don’t know of any other ones that do.
-
A.GipeFirst class team at River Stone!I truly look forward to each episode of Duk Dogs! Josh and Whitney’s thoughts and advice are spot on for any current or aspiring gun dog owner. Today’s podcast about having the right mindset really hit home with me as I prepare to send my 18 month old back to Josh for advanced training. Looking back at the starting line, as Josh put it, Im amazed how far we’ve come. Most importantly, though, realize that the training process is never over! Embrace it and enjoy it. Great stuff!

K CoenStrikes StoryJosh I just listened to the Podcast on Strike. It brings back the story you told me on a hunt with him and you. It was as heart wrenching as when you told me the first time. What a Beauty he is! I was nearly in tears. Thankfully all turned out well for him and you. It deepens my admiration of you, Whitney and your crew! Kudos to your friends and the Sheriff Dept. KingonStrike PodcastJosh thanks for this follow up on Strike. I’m in Polk county just north of you and remember the St. Croix county sheriff’s department posting on Facebook about this dog being missing and I figured it was related to your kennel. One of the best podcasts I’ve listen to from a devoted dog guy.
-
jaysenh3690DogsLove this Short and to the point Love how it has the waterfowl edge and how that is hard to train for Josh’s opinions may not work in all scenarios as he has said.. But in the end he is right and makes us rethink what is best for our dogs in the end
-
