  • Happy Posher!!
    Too much misc talk
I needed this episode to give me solid advice, stategies to help with my math anxiety. Yet for basically the entire episode (almost an hour), there was only chatty talk. Extremely disappointing.

Too little info for time spent
The chatty chat is excessive; it took the first ten minutes to even arrive at one concrete idea about math anxiety. Also, the staggering level of deference to the interviewee was exemplary “sage on the stage.” She had all knowledge and the interviewers were the oh, so eager receptacles. Added to all this was the extreme display of traditional gender roles: he asked all the questions regarding specific information and she was the one to express the affective, emotional responses. Let me finally add that I do not recall a precise definition of math anxiety and perhaps only one or two ideas of what to do in the classroom, the only environment I as a teacher have any control over. All in all, 30 minutes that could boil down to at most five minutes of helpful ideas and information.
