    Best Chicken Sandwiches in Meridian
Must be a late podcast because as of March 10, 2025 The Chicken Shanty closed down due to lawsuits and unpaid rent.

So much news, short and sweet format with a relaxed approach. Easily my fave local podcast at the moment. 🩵🙏🏼

A Californian who wishes he could afford to move to Idaho right now
A left leaning to Liberal host, with Liberal guests. True insight to see how the “Boise metropolitan area” is turning purple. And how a state who’s vibrantly red, becomes purple and eventually blue. Listen to the show, you’ll see how it happens. This is the situation most of us “rural” Californians are in, completely outnumbered by the city people so our vote doesn’t matter, especially on the national stage. I really hope the people who live there understand this and vote in their local elections because that’s where it matters most.

It has made me respect (a small corner of) Idaho
Tied with City Cast Pittsburgh as my favorite City Cast. What I formally regarded as a backwater nowhere, these excellent journalists have no opened my eyes to a thriving little community. It still needs light rail and alternatives to car-dependency, though.

    Consistency
These podcasts are consistently excellent and that includes the production of them. They are always easy to hear and understand and the levels are just right. That’s the backstage stuff. Up front Lindsay is fantastic. She is capable of discussing topics of all genre (though when it comes to politics she has a famous history!). Lindsay interviews people with skill. We learn a lot during these interviews. Thank you City Cast Boise crew.

The best way to start a Boise day
Fun, thoughtful, engaging! Especially loved the most recent episode on the child care crisis in Boise!

    Better stuff out there
Not a great reflection of Boise or Idaho. Pay to play content. Overall not a good listen.

    Funny, Informative, and Thought-Provoking
The episodes are short, funny, and insightful, and it’s my favorite way to keep up with all things Boise, from politics to arts to food. As the city’s best stand-up comic, Emma Arnold gives the show a unique mix of humor, pathos, and insight, Blake does a fantastic job researching, summarizing, and explaining local news stories, and the rest of the crew and guests are always interesting and entertaining. Boise badly needed a show like this, keep up the great work!

    OUTSTANDING
Emma and her team find the most interesting and informative aspects of living in Boise, with humor and intelligence. I have never been disappointed in any episode, and neither will you.

    Exceptional
I literally came across this podcast a few weeks ago from someone I follow on Twitter and I’m hooked. I’ve lived here 11 years and forget how much Boise and surrounding areas have to offer, thanks Covid pandemic. Now that spring weather is here I’m off to rediscover new places and the forgotten ones.

    Great topics!
I love how Boise and Idaho are covered, especially since I listen to get a better feel for the place after only visiting a few times. The topics and discussion are leaps and bounds above my home town City Cast (Denver). Great coverage of outdoor activities, quirky things to do, challenges, food…love it. The host/producer/editor have great perspectives.

    The best podcast in Boise
This podcast is tapping into all of the Boise conversations I want to hear: The good, the bad, the ugly, the fun, the ridiculous. Their love for the city shines through, not only in the celebrations of the good stuff, but also the critiques of the not-so-good stuff — which all residents of a city need to hear. It’s your super smart friend who invites you to fun dinner parties where everyone at the table has something interesting to contribute. Don’t sleep on this pod, Boise!

    Love Frankie
She’s exactly who I want to teach me about boy-SEE. Boy-ZEE?!

    Just what I needed
This pod is just what Boise needed. A fresh, fun way to keep the community engaged and connected. I love it so much! Thanks for all your hard work!

    Boise getting it’s Shine
What a wonderful thing to see a podcast dedicated to a city many people know about but don’t know it. And I love the focus on climate change these are the places most affected by it and we need to hear there stories!
  • Foothills Prof
    Typical NPR
I listen to this podcast with perverse fascination. Its primary rationale seems to be to salve the wounds of a small Boise’s clique with snarky put downs of Idaho and Idahoans at every opportunity. Typical BSU Radio fare. Hey! It works for the clique. It works for David Plotz and the D.C. media machine. But it ain’t Idaho and increasingly it ain’t even Boise. Boise was a wonderful, incredibly affluent conservative town in the days of Joe Albertson, Harry Morrison, and J. R. Simplot. The new influx is bringing that spirit back.

I really wanted to like this
When a friend shared this podcast with me I was super excited about this. The idea of the podcast seemed super exciting. The problem is that through the first 7 episodes the show isn’t what I thought it would be. The show does have voices from the Treasure Valley, but it kind of feels like the focus of the show so far has not really been on Boise history. Maybe I’ll come back again later and give it another try when more episodes are created, but for now I’m taking a break because the show isn’t yet what the creators have described it to be. Maybe my expectations were incorrect, but the show description is what created those expectations.

    Very thankful for this podcast
So thankful to have a local focused podcast in Boise that confronts challenging topics instead of dancing around then. Host and guests are relatable and the production is really high quality. Keep up the great work!

    Learning so much about Boise!
I feel like I’ve been hearing for years that Boise is the next coolest city in the West to move to. But it’s so refreshing to hear from locals about what makes that city great, how they’re grappling with that rapid growth, and what needs to change in the city. This is a team of pros and I love listening to the stories they dig up and bring to the show every morning!
  • CobyCochran

    Excited for this show

    A podcast that loves Boise.
You can tell from the first episode just how much host Frankie Barnhill loves Boise. This is a podcast that wants to make you feel more connected to the city. Is plugged into what matters in Boise, how you can take part in city life, how to revel in the city, how it can be improved. It’s joyful and smart and local.

Great to hear Boise on the map!
In the words of the famous fictional radio voice, “I’m listening.”
  • Kiki_with_Janessa
