Alessandro1357Compelling and amazingly well doneThis is a truly wonderful show. Travis Mushett does an amazing job bringing Weimar Germany to life through his incredibly lively and engaging commentary on the most important films of that era. The rhythm and flow of this show is flawless. It is hard to believe that this is Travis Mushett’s first podcast. It is compelling, passionate, and at times deeply moving. A great listen.

CheckyalaterslaterExcellentSuper well researched and fine tuned. I could listen to way more than the six episodes - hoping for more!

IswoonHistoryI have seen much of the cinematic creation referred to (so far) and perhaps that is why I find this pcast informative & interesting. The musical backgrounds and foul language I can deal with; makes it less formal, academic. The brief interstitials intended as informative fail, replete with electronica and edited-in comments from current cinema (Fritz Lang episode 1.3 for ex). Get with the period: Weill, Schulhoff,...plenty of period appropriate degenerate music. Pronunciation of foreign terms is error-prone, which matters to, ahem, scholars. Anyone that listens to this qualifies. P.S. Giorgio Moroder’s music is an abomination, in no way suited to Metropolis...nor much else.

j-blokhedDisco DeathWanted to. But disco synth music in the background was just too annoying.

EP MofittWell done!Well researched and well narrated, this is a great European counterpart to Karina Longworth’s “You Must Remember This.” I prefer podcasts featuring researched narratives over casual discussion, and as I happen to be revisiting Weimar cinema, this is a dream come true. Hopefully it will continue with other movements!

whats the deal with nicknamesEntertaining and illuminating historyHighly recommended! I have not watched any of these films (yet) but still found the exploration of this time and place and artistic movement to be fascinating and thought provoking. Travis’s enthusiasm is infectious throughout. Anyone with an interest in cultural history should give this a listen!
