Drummer285Hard to find classics easily accessible here!I enjoy classic poetry and was quite enthusiastic to find this podcast. I especially enjoy Edgar Allen Poe. I would, however, like to request "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes. That is one of my favorite poems. Thank you and please continue making podcasts!

LostBoy1205Good choices, no poetryThis podcast gives a good variety of classic poetry. The problem I have with it is this: the reader has no sense of poetry at all. The words are well-read and the reader's voice is pleasant to hear, but it's as if he is reading prose. Every once in a while I'll hear a rhyme and it will actually throw me off. There's no rhythm or sense of meter at all. This probably helps some people - it's often easier to grasp the meaning of poetry when the rhythm and rhyme are out of the way - but for me, all the beauty of poetry is lost when the rhythm is ignored.

Black Hole GangLovely, thrilling and of great valueI listen to them all and I'm happy to have them, thanks very much. I'd like to request a reading of "Broken Vows" by Lady Gregory, please, and perhaps some song lyrics that might deserve this treatment (Suzanne by Leonard Cohen, for example, or In My Life by the Beatles, perhaps, if you think it's appropriate). Obviously a labor of love, and received in kind, with appreciation. Dan 4 years later, I am still looking for new installments (sigh)

VirgilsTimeScamPoems are a canned message asking for money

quinfirefrorefiddleNo ContentDownloaded several episodes- each were a notice saying the website had run out of bandwidth and asking for a donation. No poetry AT ALL. I don't see how that would effect iTunes anyway- and even if it did, why not just suspend downloads and put up a note?

principioverbumnothing betterI've been listening to this podcast for quite some time now, and I can't tell you how much I have benefitted from these readings since - whether listening from the office, on the road, just having tea, etc. It's rare to find such a beautifully selected, beautifully presented, and beautifully read series despite the growing movement of free audio books of poetry/literature. Classic Poetry Aloud leads the group - I can't thank the host enough for his professionalism and dedication to sharing English language poetry with all of us. Matter of fact, sir - I could listen to you read your grocery list and be completely mesmerized! If you ever consider expanding Classic Poetry Aloud or starting perhaps a prose series, I'll be the first listener.

Echo GroksA Fantastic PodcastExcellent range of poetry read well.

AllegrazzWonderful!I absolutely adore hearing these wonderful poems read with feeling and rythm. Only wish they came more frequently.

marryatTimeless poetry lifeless readingIn contrast to other reviewers I find the reader to be dull, flat and almost expressionless. An English accent may soothe some listeners, but the absence of any 'feeling' associated with the reading negates much of the pleasure associated with an excellent choice of poetry. Moreover, how about some female readers for those works written by women.

craigr1971Really Great, but.....I love classic poetry, and the narration, sound quality, and editing are superb, but, and there's always a but it seems, I had to stop listening. Though I truly loved the readings, they are often, more often than not, brief, as the texts are short. With my mp3 player, at least, I'd have to go back, search the next poem, and press play, all while driving, as I listen to this sort of thing during my commute. If the poems were batched or similarly attached, say '10 poems from Donne', or '20 minutes of Shelly', I'd be in love all over again.

@SongDuckBeautifully read classic poetry is a real treat for a seemingly lost artAs a songwriter, I find tremendous inspiration from the real great poets throughout history. I grew up with an appreciation for poetry, which unfortunately seems to have vanished from our schools today. What a refreshing delight to be find such a wonderful collection of short poems so well read.
